Palisades introduces its newest collection, YUZEN, inspired by the centuries-old Japanese technique used to make Buddhist statues by mixing Urushi lacquer, cloth, and special clay.
Metal and cast-iron Buddha statues were extremely heavy and difficult to move, however the Dry Urushi Lacquer (脱乾漆) technique, revolutionized the process. These large statues were made from durable material, were easy to carry, and are said to have contributed to many temples. Influenced by this unique and ancient technique, Palisades created a new collection of fountain pens.
Each fountain pen in Yuzen collection is precisely handcrafted by a Dry Urushi Lacquer artist in Wajima, producing a pleasantly curvy, spiral design with a silky surface texture, that ergonomically fits in your hand. The 18K two-tone nib is made by a famous Japanese pen manufacturer and is available in F, M, B, Z, and MS.
There are two types of pen barrels to choose from: Wajima Urushi Cloth (drying lacquer) and Urushi Resin (resin).
